Ramadan Kareem!

The sighting of the moon marked the beginning of the month of Ramadan today.

Some of the students begin fasting tomorrow (no eating, drinking [or sex] from sunrise to sundown). Only about 60% of our students are Muslim (the rest are Hindu or Buddhist), so we aren't planning on changing the schedule.

They say they get used to fasting. And I sure hope so, because I just assigned a big project.

  1. Hey, my desk calendar also says today is the first of Ramadan. I wondered what that was. Fasting, that would be a good idea for me. Could I just not eat and still drink. (Milk and water). Do you have milk over there? OH, you had cheese on pizza. Did you get your refrigerator? Make friends with cockroaches? Love, Aunt J.

  2. Hi Cindy! We actually started a count-down to Ramadan on the cross country team! One of our varsity boys is Muslim, and he's fasting and still running. He's definately one tough kid! I will say though, it makes pasta parties interesting. Once the sun goes down, we can't get him out of the kitchen! ~Chris~
